What's Happening

Thoughts on the New Millennium
by Quincy Jones
Musician, Composer & Media Entrepreneur

Quincy JonesYou've got two choices. You've got to approach it with understanding and loving yourself. We have to go straight ahead and understand what we're dealing with. We're out of the agrarian age; we're out of the industrial revolution. That's all over. We're now in the information age and we can never forget it and that's what it's about. So, we've got to get ready for it and deal with it. It's going to be a civilization that the history of the world has never seen before. It's just beginning. So, my thoughts are there should be a PC in every pot. Because it's one thing not to be able to read and write in the 20th century, but if you are computer illiterate in the 21st century, you're in trouble. Big trouble, because it's going to run the world. In eight years, there will be one billion people connected. That's one billion people communicating with each other without any regulations or anything else. That's never happened before in the history of the world. Nobody really understands the dynamics of that. But, we had better understand it. We saw what happened when England took advantage of the industrial revolution and Chinese gunpowder. Imperialism wasn't about beating anybody up. They were just ahead of the game.
