The Future is in Good Hands
Meet a few of the outstanding students who will be
leading us into the millennium!
by Curtis Doucette, Jr.
Here we stand on the brink of a new millennium. Undoubtedly
the 21st century will bring with it new problems and greater
needs, which in turn will present new opportunities. The new century will
also call for a greater number of people to take on leadership roles.
Along with change comes the challenge to find more innovative solutions.
The needs of a changing world, coupled with society's budding consciousness
of the value of diversity, will present abundant leadership opportunities
for African Americans in the workplace. Those who have prepared themselves
well will reap many rewards in the new century.
The following students are among those who are preparing themselves
to meet and triumph over the challenges of the global marketplace of the
very near future. Currently, they are housed in the protective cocoons
(schools) that will facilitate their development as they prepare to blossom
into their destinies of leadership.
These student leaders have proven their ability to maintain high levels
of achievement in the academic arena while demonstrating a remarkable knack
for leadership. In addition to utilizing their leadership ability to enhance
and enrich their campuses, their efforts have transcended the campus and
spilled over into their surrounding communities.
It is for their many outstanding accomplishments that we commend them
and present them to our readers as inspiration and hope for a brighter
world in the next millennium.
Meet the Student Leaders
With these students leading the way, the future looks pretty bright,
particularly if you consider that these five are a very minute sampling
of the many dedicated young African-American student leaders out there.
With these leaders at the helm, Baby Boomers can relax and feel confident
and secure about their futures. Current and future college students - be
inspired. African Americans in general, be proud!
