Action returns to Madison Square Garden on Saturday, December 1, 2007

HBCU "Buzzer-Beating" HOOPSRichmond, VA (BlackNews.com) - The Big Apple Classic returns for its second year to the world's Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden (MSG). On Saturday, December 1st, be prepared for a jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, action-packed double header between the legendary HU's...Howard and Hampton Universities. The opening game tips-off with Virginia Union's Panthers taking on Bowie State's Bulldogs. And if that wasn't enough, patrons will be able to enjoy a pre-game drum line and step show competition included with the purchase of their game ticket. All activities will take place in "the Garden" where one ticket gets you all of the Big Apple Classic excitement!

Both games will display southern college basketball talent at its best. Featuring the infamous battle between the HU's--Howard University and Hampton University as well as the southern classic battle between two of the country's best Division II schools, Virginia Union University and Bowie State University. Skill will determine which university is truly the "King of the Court."

The step show will begin at 3:00 p.m. when some of the most talented sororities and fraternities will prove who really "stomps the yard". The drum line competition will begin promptly at 4:30 p.m. immediately following the step show. Last year, Howard's band was named King of the Drum Line. This year Howard returns along with other talented contenders to defend their title.

Doors to the "Garden" will open at 2:30 p.m. Tip-off for Virginia Union vs. Bowie State is at 7:00 p.m. The Hampton vs. Howard match up will begin at 9:00 p.m.
