Dr. Wanda M. Austin, President and CEO of The Aerospace Corporation, Receives NASA Public Service Medal

Wanda AustinDr. Wanda M. Austin, president and CEO of The Aerospace Corporation, was presented with NASA’s Public Service Medal by NASA Administrator Michael Griffin in a ceremony March 11th at the space agency’s headquarters in Washington, DC.

Austin, who assumed leadership of The Aerospace Corporation on January 1, 2008, received the award for her service as a member of the NASA Advisory Council. She served for 16 months on the panel.

"You provided an invaluable service during a dynamic time in which the Agency experienced some challenging moments, as well as some of our most triumphant ones," Griffin stated in a letter thanking Austin for her service and notifying her that she had been selected for the award.

The Public Service Medal is reserved for those who have made exceptional contributions to NASA’s mission.

The Aerospace Corporation, based in El Segundo, Calif., is an independent, nonprofit company that provides objective technical analyses and assessments for national security space programs and selected civil and commercial space programs in the national interest.
