On Diversity Recruiting

ALLEN BOSTON

Partner, Office of Minority Recruiting
Ernst & Young

Allen Boston

"At Ernst & Young, we focus on building meaningful relationships with our candidates--relationships that continue throughout their careers.

We start at the high school level by sponsoring Accounting Career Awareness Programs to help set the stage for careers in business and the accounting profession. On campus, we cultivate relationships early by sponsoring activities during which students can network with our people to learn about the profession's role in the capital markets' system and the career opportunities available at Ernst & Young. More importantly, we partner with the universities to provide opportunities to enhance the development of the students. We hold mock interviews during which we coach students on technique and provide feedback. We believe in creating, molding and sustaining relationships to ensure that the students we touch have the tools necessary to succeed in their professional careers. For those students who join the firm, we conduct onboarding meetings and informal networking sessions to help our recruits learn about our culture, and forge key mentor-mentee relationships."

"Our success as a firm and as a leader in the accounting profession, lies in our ability to share knowledge to develop a highly talented pool of professionals into tomorrow's leaders. It's wonderful when talented students decide to join us," says Allen Boston, partner, Office of Minority Recruiting.
