Deloitte

Q: Why did you choose to join this company?

A: I chose to join Deloitte for two clear reasons: One, exposure to diverse industries and business situations and two, the satisfaction of seeing the direct impact of our work on client organizations.

Q: Did it meet your expectations?

A: Since the day I joined Deloitte, both the organization and the consulting profession have met my expectations. Both have uniquely provided me with opportunities to see a breadth of industries through a variety of client offerings and challenges. Unlike other professions, as external factors and events arise (Y2K, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.), consulting is typically on the forefront of developing solutions that address issues that impact the broader business community.

Q: What does diversity in the workplace mean for you and how does your current employer meet those expectations?

A: In today's marketplace, workforce diversity is no longer just the right thing to do; rather it’s an absolute business imperative. Diversity in the workplace means having integrated teams that mirror the backgrounds and perspectives of our client organizations in order to meet their specific business needs. Deloitte recognizes this and is 100 percent dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusion that allows us to translate diversity into a business advantage. This is critical to our ongoing growth and overall success.

Q: In what capacity did you start working here? What was your first day on the job like?

A: I joined Deloitte as a senior consultant and on my first day I was off to my first client experience after spending just two hours in the office. I was immediately struck and pleasantly surprised by the degree of independence and direct interaction with leadership I was given very early in my career. I very quickly learned that professional services demands tenacious, resourceful, and self-motivated practitioners that are versatile enough to effectively produce under any circumstance.

Q: What were your challenges?

A: As a new consultant, my biggest challenge was learning how to manage my time and priorities, which is very common when first starting out in this profession.

Q: How have you changed since then?

A: Like many of my colleagues, I have professionally "grown up" at Deloitte. Throughout my career, I've been afforded many great opportunities to learn and grow. While serving some of our most prestigious clients, I have been involved in developing and delivering business solutions that address some of their toughest operational challenges. Additionally, I’ve had the good fortune of receiving invaluable coaching, which has helped me reach the pinnacle of my career.

Q: What are you most proud of in your work at Deloitte? What's the best thing about working here?

A: My colleagues are one of the best things about being at Deloitte. I love learning from the best and the brightest, whether it is our new consultants or my senior partners, who bring deep industry and functional experience and expertise. All of use contribute to and benefit from the rich learning environment. I am proud that we demonstrate collegiality, a sense of community and a standard of excellence in everything we do.
