NATIONAL
RESEARCH COUNCIL
OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMIES
The National Research Council of the National Academies will offer 350 competitive awards in 2005 for independent postdoctoral and senior scientific research to be conducted in residence at participating U.S. government laboratories. Opportunities for research are in all areas of science and engineering and many are open to non-US as well as US citizens. Awardees design their own projects to be compatible with the overall interests of the sponsoring laboratory. Annual stipends for recent Ph.D. recipients range from $36,000 - $65,000 depending upon sponsoring laboratory and are appropriately higher for additional experience. Application deadlines are February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1. Detailed program information, including instructions on how to apply, is available on the NRC Web site at
