Love In The Streets
New Novel Tells a Gritty Tale of Love Against the Backdrop of the Rough New York Streets

Young black rappers spit tales of decadence and darkness accompanied by adrenaline tinged beats and rhythms. Characters such as Menace II Society's O-Dog and Strike from Spike Lee's Clockers epitomizes the struggles with anger and decadence that shape urban reality and make the streets a dangerous place. Leevon Young makes his contribution to the reality of urban life with is new novel Bueaty an the Thug.

Young spins  a hard edge reality based look into the love of two young African Americans growing up on the streets of New York. Bueaty was born to a mother who didn't want her. She would rather buy crack than food for her daughter. Even her misspelled name reflects her mother's predilection to drugs over her daughter. At 14, Bueaty gives up on finding love in her mother's arms and chooses the streets as her home.

Damel Young has everything he ever wanted, but what he really wants he can't get. Instead of staying around to live the life his parents have ordained for him, Daniel strikes out on his own, to run the streets, falling head first into the glamorized street life, looking for love and a life made on his terms.

When Damel rescues Bueaty from an unwanted situation, the two fill deeply in love. Although they both have love and strive for a better life, that is all that they have in common. Their lifestyles conflict, but their love is genuine, a love neither of them have ever experienced. Betrayal and hardships are the traits of the streets and the two will have to persevere in order to find the life they desire.

Young was born and raised in the rough urban area of Astoria, Queens in New York. A proud father of three and husband, he finally has achieved his dream of publishing a novel. "My style of writing crosses the boundary of fiction. I like to call my works 'reality writing' because I leave out the make-believe and ground my story, plot and characters on real life," Young says. A gritty, realistic portrayal of the streets, Bueaty An The Thug is his breakthrough into the literary world.
