March Of Ages
by Obi O. Akwani

March of AgesUkoha is more than just the high priest of Amadiaku, god of the harvest. He is also a pillar of the community and a seer whose dreams and visions had begun to worry him. In earlier times he had had no trouble believing in the ability of the community to deal with new problems and challenges successfully. As high priest and elder, he had found it relatively easy to work out the solutions to such problems, in his own mind at least. But not this time. What he feels, he can not yet define and so could not share with anyone else. When the clues begin to trickle in, he realises a sense of impending calamity and despairs. He feels himself being separated from the other members of the community by a gulf of ignorance, one that he did not yet know how to bridge. Unlike past problems, this new challenge remains inscrutable...

Obi Akwani is the author of Winning Over Racism, a critically acclaimed 1995 book about life in Canada. Born in Nigeria, Obi has made his home in Canada since 1978. March of Ages is his first published work of fiction.
