THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online introduces My Salary Tools, a suite of advanced data search tools to help job-seekers make informed decisions about important career factors such as salary levels, benefits negotiations, job relocation costs, college tuition planning needs and more.

Now provided with every free MY JOB TOOLS Account from THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online, My Salary Tools allow users to conduct custom searches of updated national compensation and cost-of-living data and immediately receive easy-to-read thumbnail reports based on individual factors such as location, industry and specialization, job title and grade, and more.

Basic tools such as the "Salary Wizard" (abbreviated form shown here) help you answer that sticky job announcement or interview question, "What are your salary expectations?" by showing you a thumbnail average salary range based on position and location information you input.

The "Cost of Living Wizard" can help you assess your long-range compensation needs if you are negotiating or relocating for a job, or considering a salary or benefits offer.

On the lighter side, a number of fun add-ons can introduce some much-needed levity into the drudgery of a job search process.  You can find out how much you're currently worth in hamburgers or Barbie dolls (!), while tools such as "Millionaire Maker" let you calculate how far you have to go to become a tycoon or to "pull even" with celebrities such as Ichiro Suzuki, Jennifer Lopez, Tiger Woods or Oprah.  Real-time reporting can even show you how much you are making right now, this minute, in the time it takes you to read this.

Although fun, these tools are simply engaging ways to drill down to useful information that can help answer more serious career questions: "How well am I doing?" and "Am I getting paid what I'm worth?" and "What are my compensation needs and goals?"

Okay, but what if I don't actually know what my goals are?

Like having your own personal career coach on-hand, self-analysis tools such as Job Assessor walk you through a series of fundamental life and work factors such as cash flow, advancement opportunity, independence, benefits, etc. to help you rank and evaluate what's really important in a job for you and what kind of position might be suited to you ... even if you don't know it.  You can even add and weight your own custom factors such as workplace diversity, time-off, opportunities to travel, public adoration -- anything that you think is important to fulfilling your career dreams.  Caution: Using Job Assessor imaginatively and honestly may just lead to expanded professional horizons!

Finally, for those who are still collegians, planning to become collegians, or are parents of collegians-to-be, the "College Tuition Planner" is not to be missed.  This is invaluable for budgeting and projecting how much you will need to save to pay for schooling by searching on locations and specific campuses, factoring in your savings accounts, interest rates, years of study, student loans or scholarships, and more.

My Salary Tools @ THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online are powered by Salary.com, which also makes extended Premium compensation report options available for immediate purchase by job-seekers, HR professionals or others who need more detailed data.
