21st Century Career Advice for College Seniors
by Dr. Ernestine Montogomery
As the new century progresses, job seekers must learn to write electronic resumes.  The electronic version of an Internet resume is designed for resume management systems and automated databases that are used by employers, employment agencies, search firms, and employment Web sites. Job seekers must learn new skills especially in the computer area. Do everything you can to learn about and make use of new technologies. Take advantage of any special training programs on new equipment and software. You should take both credit and non-credit courses in order to update your technological skills.

During the next era, job seekers must think of themselves as entrepreneurs. Develop skills that can be offered to the workplace and know how to articulate them. In any work that the job seeker obtains, volunteer to take part in any team effort/project designed to enhance workplace productivity or initiative to explore new approaches to getting the work done. Develop good interpersonal skills and know how to work as a member of or leader of a team.  Show a genuine interest in others and be supportive of them.
