Army Reserve May be More Feasible for Some
So you’re impressed with what
the Army has to offer – great medical benefits, VA benefits to help in the
process of buying a home, opportunities to continue your education free of
charge and experience that can quickly advance your career. On the other hand, you’re looking forward to getting
started right away in the corporate world or continuing your education as a
full-time student. As it turns out,
your conflict of interest isn’t a conflict at all, according to Army Lt. Col.
Ben Ennis. “The Army Reserve
offers a variety of opportunities for college graduates, such as education and
training that can supplement your corporate career,” said Ennis, who is also
the chief of Army Reserve Marketing and Advertising. “We
have people that are pursuing a Ph.D. but they still want to have that tie to
the military. They like the
benefits and the camaraderie that you build.”
The world is changing so quickly
that following a few years after graduation, what you’ve learned in school can
be antiquated. The Army Reserve
offers a solution to that problem without you having to commit to the Army
full-time. “If there are some
courses offered in your field, you can generally get the Army Reserve to pay for
them,” Ennis pointed out. “Knowledge
can be outdated quickly but we provide an opportunity for you to stay abreast of
the latest changes and updates in your field.” So, if this description is
appealing, you might want to check out the Army Reserve.
